Corps Exquis

Daniel Wohl’s new project Corps Exquis–a large-scale performance piece that exists at the intersection of video installation, rock concert, avant-garde cinema, and experimental classical and electronic music. Wohl developed the project in conjunction with TRANSIT New Music and a collective of New York City video artists, combining the vitality of the city’s emerging experimental music and video art scenes. It was created in the fashion of the parlor game exquisite corpse, developed by the Surrealists in 1920′s Paris, in which each player is assigned a section of an artwork, but only allowed a glimpse of the very end of the previous player’s contribution so no one sees the final piece until all individual sections are completed.  A preview of the project is available as part of the “323″ Single, backed with an Edit by electronic composer/performer Laurel Halo. An LP dedicated to the project will be released on New Amsterdam Records in 2012.
